For an
enjoyable day out under your own steam visit Greenwich:
Take a tube from Bank and change on to the
DLR (www.dlr.co.uk)
to Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich.
The Cutty Sark (www.cuttysark.org.uk),
an old Tea-Clipper dominates the riverside. Move
up to the National Maritime Museum (www.rmg.co.uk)
not only for the exhibits but for Wren's work
on the Old Royal Naval College.
Adjacent is Inigo Jones' delightful Queen's
House. Then continue up the hill to the
Royal Observatory (www.rmg.co.uk).
Finally take a leisurely boat back past the Tower
of London to Embankment pier (see River Cruises)
and from Embankment Underground home to the hotel. |
